| An ongoing project here at the department of
Engineering is the Flying Platform project. Running for the past two years
as a 4th year group project the aim has been to design, manufacture and
develop an autonomous flying platform.
The specifications required of the project has meant that a large number
of Engineering disciplines have had to be incorporated including, mechanical,
control, electrical, management and structural engineering.
The differing areas of the projects have included mathematical modelling,
rotor design, ignition systems, gyroscopic stability and platform design.
